We take our crate training really seriously around here. In truth, this giant puppy pile in the open crate helps them get used to the space in a comfortable & safe environment. They learn that it is a calm place to rest & it doesn’t stress them out. Over time we close the door for short, and then longer periods of time, gradually increasing their tolerance & acceptance of being in a crate without the emotional transition phase which can often be filled with hours of howling & other behaviors.
